Kinja'd!!!

I'm really looking for an AMC Eagle SX/4 or Kammback (rare and unlikely). One of these would work too though.

The only thing holding me back is that I'm still house shopping.

Bloody responsibilities...

Bah!

1st gen DSMs like that one are the ones to have. The engines were tougher on the early cars. Plus I always thought they were better looking than the 2gs.

I am a fan of the 1g cars and the last Eclipse on looks.

I know less than nothing about DSMs though. For a competition car I may have to wait and get something I'm familiar with.

90's dsm is pretty good. With a tune and small bolt ons you can make 300whp. avoid the 95 and 96 enignes tho. Those were the ones with crank walk issues. Also the awd system in them is pretty good

Not stock DSM? Prepare for one of the greatest love-hate relationships of your life - right up there with that hot girl in college your friends all told you to stay away from, but - at least early on - what do they know?

Thanks. I may have to do some research now.

I may not be able to jump on this one though. I'm going to check out a Farmette (they're inventing words now?) tomorrow.

I had a 1G DSM in college and I loved it. And if I had bought one stock and kept it stock, it honestly would have been super reliable - but also less fun. So, naturally, I didn't. And back then, I had the time to wrench on them every time something broke, which was often. You know, fast/reliable/cheap - pick two, and in college, cheap had to be one. So now while I miss DSMs, I just don't have the time for a project car, and what time I do have I'd rather spend driving.

But in your scenario, a stock DSM would be great to rally. They had a long enough production run and share enough pieces between the 1G and 2G that parts availability is reasonable. They get modded so much that used stock parts are cheap. And nearly everything that can break has aftermarket support to hopefully replace with something more robust.
